Initial Situation

Audi is developing a web-based app with interactive content for large screens and tablets in inner-city flagship stores. A 3D rendering engine, which can be operated both on-premise and in the cloud, is already under construction. This solution is to be integrated into the web app for an interactive experience of vehicle configurations. How exactly this can work is unclear. A proof of concept should clarify the feasibility of fulfilling the requirements with a minimum of effort within one person-month.

After a short familiarization phase in all relevant systems and the identification of suitable modules - including a slightly adapted version of the existing online configurator - we were able to show that the desired solution is possible. In short iterations, in each case with the highest technical risk first, we defined, validated and if necessary, rejected various integration scenarios. We coordinated necessary adjustments to existing systems and their interfaces directly across teams and then worked with appropriate mocks for decoupled and rapid development.
